  • APPLICATION AND ADMISSION 2022

There is a limited number of slots for each track and each instrument. Therefore, everyone who wants to participate must submit an application. We do not use the "first-come-first-served" principle, but go through all the applications individually and distribute the slots as evenly and fairly as possible. The first selection is made among those who applied by 14 December 2021. That means that those who submit their applications early have the greatest chance of getting their chosen camp track.

As far as possible, we want to offer slots to all members who are part of an existing ensemble / orchestra / choir. Therefore, we prefer that all those who want to participate in the camp as a group make a joint application.

    About your application

Everyone can only apply for one track, so it is important to think through the track selection. Information about each track and a link to the application form can be found on the different track pages.

It costs nothing to apply and the application is not binding. Participating in Side by Side costs SEK 450 / participant on all tracks except OPEN CHOIR, BEGINNERS 'ORCHESTRA and BEGINNERS' CHOIR which cost SEK 200.

Those who are offered a place at Side by Side will have to supplement their application with some additional information as they accept. This includes contact information for each participant, any special diet and payment information, as well as the names of any accompanying adults.

Before you apply, you must read our TERMS & CONDITIONS.
Also read our PERSONAL DATA POLICY.

If you have any questions, want to change anything or withdraw your application, email sidebyside@gso.se

    Submitting a group application

For most of the tracks, it is possible to make a joint application for several participants from the same School of the Arts, orchestra or choir. The information and admission notice for the whole group is then sent to the person responsible for the group application. It is possible to make an application for 30 participants in the same form. If there are more people in the same group, you can submit two applications to the same track. Indicate yourself as responsible for both applications.

If you have students at several levels and want to participate with one group in, for example, BASIC ORCHESTRA and another in CHILDREN’S CHOIR, you must submit two different applications.

If you, as an orchestra leader, educator or choir leader, do not yet know exactly which participants are to be included in the application, it is possible to enter Student 1, Student 2, etc. as their names. However, it is very important that the number of people per instrument or part is correct. Complete details for all participants must be submitted when you accept the offered slots.

You do not have to state the names of the accompanying adults in the application, these are added when you accept the offered slots. Remember that you need enough adults on-site to take care of your group during the whole camp, for example during transfers, meals and before and after rehearsals. If you plan to live at Side by Side's accommodation, it is important that the number of people, including accompanying adults, is stated in the application. If you do not plan to stay at the accommodation, enter 0 as the number.

    Submitting an individual application

For some of the tracks for older participants (ADVANCED ORCHESTRA, PRE-ADVANCED ORCHESTRA, FOLK MUSIC and YOUTH CHOIR) it is only possible to submit an individual application.

If you are 16 years or older, you can apply on your own and enter your own email address. If you are younger, we want you to make the application together with an adult and have the e-mail address go to an adult who is responsible for the application. It is to this e-mail address that the admission notice and information will be sent. Other information in the application applies to the playing / singing participant. Information about any accompanying adult should be stated when you accept an offered slot.

It is possible to submit an individual application for other tracks as well, but it is important that you who belong to a group first ask your teacher / leader if the group will make a joint application before your proceed on your own. If you are participating as a group, submitting a group application is best.

Parents/legal guardians applying on behalf of charge(s)

It is important that you talk to their instrument teacher, orchestra leader or choir leader before applying for your child. For one thing, it is beneficial for the teacher to be involved in choosing the track so that the level is right, and for another, it is important that you know if any group your child is a part of will submit a joint application.

If your child plays or sings in a group that plans to come to Side by Side together, we want the group to make a joint application. That way, we can try to make room for everyone who belongs to the group.

As an adult, you are responsible for the application and should submit your own email address. It is to this email address the admission notice and information will be sent. Other information in the application applies to the playing / singing participants. Information about any accompanying adult should be stated when you accept an offered place at camp. Keep in mind that everyone under the age of 13 must have an adult they know on site..

    Children and adults at camp

Side by Side is a camp in the middle of Gothenburg and this means that the participants have to move between different locations around the Concert Hall in a busy city environment. All participants under the age of 13 must have an accompanying adult that they know on site at the camp, someone who is on hand all day and takes responsibility for the child, especially during transfers, meals and activities in addition to the rehearsals. This can be the group leader, an accompanying parent or another adult. Children in different tracks have different schedules and rehearse in different rooms, so it is important to think about having a sufficient number of adults with you. To be allowed to stay overnight at Side by Side's accommodation, you must be 13 years old or accompanied by an adult.

Accompanying adults do not need to apply for a track. On the acceptance form for playing / singing participants, information can be added for all accompanying adults.

For children under 13 who want to participate in INTERMEDIATE ORCHESTRA, BASIC ORCHESTRA, PRE-UPPER VOICES CHOIR or CHILDREN’S CHOIR and can not have an adult with them, it is possible to apply for a slot in a camp counselor group. This means that the participants have a camp counselor employed by Side by Side who looks after and guides them during the camp. The camp counselors work during daytime only and children without an adult are therefore not allowed to spend the night at Side by Side but must be picked up and left every day in connection with the camp's scheduled activities. The number of places in the camp counselor groups is limited. For BEGINNERS 'ORCHESTRA and BEGINNERS' CHOIR, each child must have an accompanying adult they know who leaves and picks them up and is available by phone during the rehearsal on Sunday and Monday, and is on site with the child all Tuesday.

When participating in OPEN CHOIR, an adult must be present for those who need help with, for example, lunch or transfers.

For everyone's safety, we need to know who and how many are staying in the various locations. Therefore, we can not accept children and / or adults who have a connection to a participant, but do not have a place that is paid for and confirmed by us. If anyone wants to visit a participant during the camp, we suggest that the visit takes place between the various activities, and outdoors. Everyone is welcome to the various concerts, though tickets are needed in most cases. More information about this will be in the newsletter and on the website.
