    Here you will find a lot of what you need to know and think about when you sign up.

    If you have questions or wish to cancel your slot, please email sidebyside@gso.se.

    General information 2021

    The sign-up period for Side by Side: Digital was open until June 3. You can make a late sign-up until June 18, but some instruments may not be available when camp starts.


    To join Side by Side: Digital 2021, all participants need to fill out a sign-up form. The booking code that you will receive in your confirmation email is the one you will need to use when you register on the Digi Site. A link to the Digi Site will also be included.


    You can sign up multiple participants from the same School of the Arts, choir, or family, who wish to attend the same track (not ADVANCED ORCHESTRA, PRE-ADVANCED ORCHESTRA, WIND & STRING ORCHESTRA, YOUTH CHOIR, EARLY MUSIC or FOLK MUSIC). You can also sign up one person at a time for all tracks. Either way, it’s important that you submit a correct email address that we can use to send you information. 


    In order to register on the Digi Site, each participant will need their own booking code. The code is included in the confirmation notice attached to the email. 


    Side by Side: Digital is completely free of charge. If you wish to retract your sign-up form, reach out to sidebyside@gso.se. 

  • Who can participate in Side by Side: Digital?

    We have tried to make the Digi Site suitable for you who are participating on your own from home as well as for you who are participating with a group. Younger participants may need adult supervision to register and participate on the Digi Site. Please contact sidebyside@gso.se if you have any questions.

    How do I sign up more than one person?

    For some tracks at Side by Side: Digital, each participant needs to sign up individually. For other tracks, you can sign up 20 participants for the same track. Person 1 in the form needs to be the group leader responsible for the sign-up and the other people should be you participants. You will receive all the booking codes to your own email and will be responsible for sending this on to your participants if you want them to be able to register individually on the Digi Site and have access to all the content on their own.

    Privacy Policy

    During Side by Side, we will document everything through text, image and sound. We will spread this information and use photography, video and sound files in social media, on our website, in print, and in other instances where Side by Side is presented before and during the camp as well as for future communication and marketing needs. This includes material provided to us by the participants. The material may also be used by our partners.

    If you sign up a whole group, you need permission from the legal guardians of all minors and are responsible for providing said guardians with all pertinent information regarding the camp and our privacy policy.

    In order to join Side by Side 2021, all singing/playing participants need to submit an Expression of Interest.

     

    February 11–April 15 you can submit a Late Expression of Interest for slots still remaining for certain tracks/instruments at the on-site Gothenburg camp.

     

    February 11 -March 31 you can submit an Expression of Interest for BEGINNERS’ ORCHESTRA and BEGINNERS’ CHOIR on-site in Gothenburg. 

     

    The Expression of Interest for Side by Side: Digital is open February 11–April 15.  

     

    Because of the current world situation, we will offer fewer slots in Gothenburg than earlier. However, it will still be possible to participate digitally for both groups and individual participants. When we distribute slots for the different tracks and parts, we aim for quality, breadth, and diversity. Due to the pandemic, we will prioritize geographical proximity.

     

    For Side by Side: Digital you can submit a joint Expression of Interest if you represent a group of participants from the same School of the Arts, choir, or family, and wish to attend the same track (not ADVANCED ORCHESTRA, PRE-ADVANCED ORCHESTRA, WIND & STRING ORCHESTRA, YOUTH CHOIR, EARLY MUSIC or FOLK MUSIC). In that case, we will send out a single admission notice for the whole group. You can also submit an individual Expression of Interest to any track. In either case, it is important to enter a correct email address that we can send the admission notice to.

     

    Your Expression of Interest is not binding and does not cost anything. If you would like to withdraw your Expression of Interest, we would be grateful if you could reach out to us via sidebyside@gso.se as soon as possible.

     

    If you submitted your Expression of Interest by February 7, the admission notice will be sent out in February. We go through the Late Expression of Interests continuously and send out admission notices continuously for these as well.

    Expression of Interest Gothenburg, for:

    All tracks except BEGINNERS' ORCHESTRA and BEGINNERS' CHOIR

    Late Expression of Interest: Open for certain tracks and instruments. Submit yours as soon as possible and April 15 at the latest. Available slots will be filled continuously.

  • Expression of Interest

    ADVANCED ORCHESTRA, PRE-ADVANCED ORCHESTRA, WIND & STRING ORCHESTRA, YOUTH CHOIR, UPPER VOICES CHOIR, EARLY MUSIC and FOLK MUSIC

    • After February 7, we will divvy up the different tracks and parts. We will base our decisions on how long you have played your instrument/sung in a choir, your orchestra-/choir experience, and your age. We strive for Side by Side quality, width, and diversity. Due to the pandemic we will prioritize geographical proximity for the Gothenburg camp.
    • We may contact your instrument teacher/choir leader concerning your Expression of Interest.
    • You will receive an admission notice in February. If you are offered a slot, you must reply and confirm your participation within the timespan stated in the notice. If you do not reply in a timely manner, you will lose your slot.
    • If you are not offered a slot, you will be placed on the Waiting List for the track you have submitted an Expression of Interest for.
    • Due to the pandemic, we wish to reduce the number of participants on-site in Gothenburg. Therefore, we have decided to limit the possibility of bringing an accompanying adult. Please contact sidebyside@gso.se if you have any questions or concerns regarding this.
    • When it's time to confirm offered slots, it will be possible to gather all participants in one booking in order to get a single bill.

    UPPER INTERMEDIATE ORCHESTRA, INTERMEDIATE ORCHESTRA, BASIC ORCHESTRA, PRE-UPPER VOICES CHOIR, CHILDREN’S CHOIR och OPEN CHOIR

    Extra Info Regarding Late Expression of Interest

    ALL TRACKS

     

    We go through late expressions of interests continuously and try to see where they may be slotted into the different tracks and parts. Admission notices will be sent out continuously as well. The selection is made based on the same criteria as the expressions of interests that were sent in by February 7.

  • What information do I need in order to submit an Expression of Interest?

    • Name
    • Year of birth
    • Which orchestra/choir you wish to participate in and with what instrument/voice type
    • Which School of the Arts, orchestra, choir or organization that you belong to (if any)
    • An email address where you can receive the admission notice
    • A mobile number where we can reach you

    For some tracks, additional information is required, for example:

    • Which ensemble section you wish to sing/play in
    • How many years of experience you have playing your instrument/singing in a choir
    • How much experience you have playing in an orchestra/singing in a choir
    • The name, phone number and email address to your instrumental/choir teacher
    • If you would like to be placed in a camp counselor group
    If you submit an Expression of Interest for Side by Side: Digital from February 11, you will not have to fill in quite as much information for most tracks.
     

    What does the participation fee cover when you participate on-site in Gothenburg?

    The participant fee is 450 SEK (including 25% VAT) for all tracks except BEGINNERS´ ORCHESTRA, BEGINNERS´ CHOIR and OPEN CHOIR which are only 200 SEK (including 25% VAT). The participation fee is refunded if you cancel before May 7. Last day to cancel for a full refund due to Corona related issues is June 17. The fees will also be refunded if Side by Side needs to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

     

    Food: At Side by Side we serve lunch and/or dinner during camp and fruit between meals. We work hard to lessen the excess amount of food we serve and therefore ask participants to attend all scheduled meals.

     

    Participating at Side by Side: Digital is free of charge.

     

    Without an adult?

    Due to the pandemic, we wish to reduce the number of participants on-site in Gothenburg. Therefore, we have decided to limit the possibility of bringing an accompanying adult. The groups will be smaller than usual and there will not be as many location transfers.

     

    We will have an adult present to help all participants feel safe and secure. For tracks meant for younger participants group leaders will have the option to sign up together with their groups. Please contact sidebyside@gso.se if you have any questions..

     

    Children under 13 years old who wish to attend Side by Side and cannot bring an accompanying adult are welcome to express their interest in joining a camp counselor group. That means that there will be a camp counselor who looks after and guides them during camp.

     

    Children must be collected and left each day in connection to scheduled camp activities. Camp counselor groups are only available for the following tracks: INTERMEDIATE ORCHESTRA, BASIC ORCHESTRA, PRE-UPPER VOICES CHOIR and CHILDREN’S CHOIR. The number of available slots in camp counselor group are very limited.

     

    If you are participating in OPEN CHOIR, you need to bring an accompanying adult if you need help for things like lunch and transfers between locations.

     

    How do I submit an Expression of Interest for more than one person?

    For some tracks, each participant must submit an individual Expression of Interest. For other tracks you can submit a joint Expression of Interest for up to 20 participants in the same track. The later is recommended if you are from the same orchestra, school, or choir, and only want to participate if you can come to Gothenburg as a group. Make sure that Person 1 in the form is the adult responsible for the submission. The email address for Person 1 will receive the submission notice for the whole group.

     

    If you are submitting a Late Expression of Interest, you can only do so for one person at a time.

     

    Personal Data

    Filming and photography takes place for documentation throughout Side by Side. The material will be used in social media, on our website and in other ways to present Side by Side during the camp week and in our future communication and marketing. The same applies to any material sent in to us.   • How do I fill in the Expression of Interest form?

    Here you will find a detailed instruction on how to fill in the form.

    Name

    If the Expression of Interest is only for a single playing/singing participant, enter that name. If the submission is for a group, like a choir, an orchestra, or several children from the same school of the arts, enter the name of the adult responsible for submitting the Expression of Interest as Person 1. The rest of the participants become Person 1, Person 2, and so on.

     

    Country/Municipality (in Sweden)

    State your country of residence if you don't live in Sweden, or your municipality if you do live in Sweden.

     

    Email (for pre-camp info)

    This email address will be used when the admission notice is sent out. If you submit several participants, you will still get the admission notice to this address.

     

    Mobile phone number (for pre-camp contact)

    Please enter a mobile phone number where we can reach you prior to sending out the admission notice.

    School of the Arts/Orchestra/Choir/Organization

    Enter the name of your school of the arts, orchestra, choir, or other organization that you are a part of. If you are not a part of any organization, you can submit that as an answer as well.

     

    Instrument/Part

    Choose the instrument/choir section for each participant in the list. NB! If you are submitting a Late Expression of Interest, there may only be some instruments/parts available in the list. This means that there are no more available slots for other instruments/parts. If you are an adult who are only submitting an Expression of Interest for a single child, you select their instrument here.
