FOLK MUSIC is mainly for youth and young adults. The track suits you who wants to play folk- and world music by ear (without sheet music) together with others. You sing or play strings, wind, percussion, a stringed instrument like the guitar, mandola, bass, or other accompaniment instrument.

Johannes Bergil
Jenny Gustafsson
Johannes is a professional musician, multi-instrumentalist and educator. He works cross-border with modern traditional music from the Balkans, Turkey and the Nordics, jazz, alternative pop and improvisational music. Johannes is in the bands Malmö Turbo, Spomenik and Trio Beynelmilel, and has been musical director of the World Wide Orchestra.

Jenny is a freelance musician and national fiddler on Västgöta songs, and has a wide audience. She is active as a musician and educator, has done extensive school tours, worked as a theater musician and is visible on folk music stages around the country. Jenny also works with the youth courses Sjövikskursen and Västra låtwerkstan.

Jenny Gustafsson
Sten is a musician, composer, arranger, and folk and world music. He is passionate about integrating music from different cultures, with a special focus on music from Haiti. not the least through his band Simbi. Sten is the Artistic Leader of World Wide Orchestra. He was awarded the Swedish Planeta Prize Inspirator of the Year in 2021.

For you who are about 14 years or older and well experienced with your instrument. You like to play groovy folk and world music by ear, and sing or play any sort of instrument, like recorder, guitar, mandola or percussion.
Your camp starts on Saturday, June 19 and ends with a concert on Tuesday, June 22.
You could submit your Expression of Interest for FOLK MUSIC on December 2–February 7. The admission notice will be sent out during February. The selection will be made based on your experience and your age. If you are offered a slot, you must reply YES and confirm your participation within the time span given in the notice. The participation fee is 450 SEK per person.
The Expression of Interest submission process for Side by Side: Digital opens again on February 11. At that time you will also be able to express your interest for any slots still remaining for the on-site camp.

The sign-up period for Side by Side: Digital was open until June 3. You can make a late sign-up until June 18, but some instruments may not be available when camp starts.

For FOLK MUSIC you must apply for admission. The application is open November 11 – January 10. There are about 30 slots available and admission is based on your age and experience.
